IKEA‚Tempe‚ a little bit of awesome and a little bit of crazy
The weekend has arrived. My husband and I decided to take our awesome gift card that our power-win in-laws gave us‚ and explore IKEA. The new survival apartment has one bed‚ two-lawn chairs‚ and old desk to put our TV on. One by one‚ we sold our furniture on Craigslist. No need to over do it while moving. Less is always more when it comes to stuff that you have to schlep across town. Ikea is the place to go for a deal when it comes to household items. Ikea is great no matter what one has to put up with.

For those who are not aware of the mega Ikea‚ the store is made up 7’‚000 square feet. If one can think of something they need for their home‚ Ikea has it. They have 99-cent breakfast on Saturdays. Ikea has little cubby holes decorated with living rooms‚ bedrooms‚ bathrooms‚ and kitchens. One can write the item they are browsing and look it up on-line later. They have a Swedish cafe and Swedish grocery store as well. This place will suck you in and before you realize it‚ two hours have passed. Unless‚ you know the combination to the maze‚ you have to follow all the arrows to get back to the check out line. This means drooling over all the kitchen‚ bathroom‚ and organizing supplies one can come up with. Before we knew it‚ tons of miscellaneous items piled into our cart. Luckily‚ we talked ourselves out of a couple of items. However‚ they do have great deals there and some of the items are cheaper then department stores.

My husband and I used to work in the restaurant industry for 14 years until two months ago. We know ourselves and have accepted that we should get up and go early to stores before weekend chaos starts. It was nine thirty am when our car pulled up. The parking lot looked pretty empty and inside the swarm of people hadn’t started. One could maneuver the maze without running into people. However‚ two hours later the mayhem began. There where intense couples running around on a mission to find their deal. These couple are here to win. They are going to get their items and push anybody out of the way who gets in their line of vision. Also‚ there where intense amount of lawless children running around‚ hopped up on Swedish pancakes‚ and cracked out on sugar. They where grabbing at anything they can get their hands on. Parents are bargaining with their children to stop scream- crying. By the time we arrived at the check out‚ we where at our limit.

In spite of the shenanigans that can happen in Ikea‚ the store is still a great place to go to if one is on a budget.
Have you ever been to IKEA or a mega store like this? What have been your experiences with them?
As of now (5) people have had something to say...

Hi Crystal. Great post. I have never actually been in Ikea store. It sounds wonderful and exhausting at the same time. I would probably be lucky to get out with any money left.

I have to do a cart clean out before I buy too. Everything seems like the best deal ever‚ but if I stop and check‚ only half of it is actually cheaper than a local store. What did you end up getting?
