The Fitbit A.K.A The Truth Strap

My husband recently bought me a fitbit for my birthday. I am now obsessed with this product. I work as a nurse assistant at a hospital and I wanted to see how many steps I took in a twelve hour shift. The first day I got 1000 steps. My mind was blown away that I walked that much at work. The American Heart Association says that taking ten thousand steps a day will reduce your risk of heart disease. Which I thought was a huge bonus since diabetes runs in my family.  I began to explore all the other attractions it has on this watch. It will tell you how many calories you burned and how many calories you can eat. It has helped me to stay healthier and keep track of the food I am taking in. I also put in all the food and drinks I eat throughout the day. You can put in how many calories you want to eat for the day. It tells you need 64 ounces of water a day and it is up to you to log how much water you drink a day. I am drinking more water because the fitbit helps me to stay conscious of how much water I need to drink a day for my body. Even if I have to jug that water at the end of the day I am getting  close to 64 ounces. It tracks how many minutes you have been active for the day. You can also put in a goal of how many minutes you want to be active. When you reach your goals it will give you an indication on your phone. I love hearing the little ring that I hit my ten thousand steps for the day. Even if it is a computer it helps me to stay motivated.  Some days getting out of bed and working out seems like a daunting task. On my days off Netflix is calling my name with cuddling up with my dog on the couch. Now this fitbit has given me motivation to get my ten thousand steps a day. Even when I dread working out on my days off I feel like a million bucks when I leave the trail.

The awareness of my steps and putting my food intake in has allowed me to change my habits. When I wasnt keeping an eye on the amount of calories I would consume I would be like I can eat that piece of cake. I ate a salad for lunch. I have enough calories left over. Then I look at it and realized it was 1000 calories. A girl needs her chocolate and I will never give it up. I just keep balance and moderation in mind now. So if you are looking for something to get you into action and take back your health the fitbit is an incredible product.

I had a love/hate relationship with my fitbit that lasted about a year. It was great motivation to take more steps. I can see how your job gets you to be in the 10k range. I wish I would have had a fitbit when I was teaching. The history teacher next store used a pedometer and he was usually close to 10k steps a day. Contrary to popular belief teachers are up and moving around and not at their desk quite a lot 😉 What I didnt like was how the band on my fitbit kept breaking every few months. For being able to be washed with soap and water I felt the ban wore out too fast. After the last one broke I just gave up on it.

It is awesome… fitbit reminds you about your aim… I believe it motivates us a lot… I am also using it … The feature I like most is it keeps track of your steps… I am really thankful to fitbit for keeping me fit.
