Fun Summer Activities that are low-cost
It is summer time and some of you May have alot of time on your hands. If your like me who can’t go galloping in Europe all summer (Which would be awesome) then you get creative and think of fun stuff to entertain yourself with. Some of the interests I will list are free and then some are inexpensive and won’t put a hole in your wallet.
1. Movie Matinee
I saw this movie with Melissa Mccharthy for five dollars and seventy five cents a ticket at Carmike Thoroughbred in Franklin‚ TN. They have have a matinee everyday between four pm and five thirty pm. Nothing like sitting in a cold dark movie theater when it is hot and muggy out in Nashville. Plus‚ this movie will make you laugh so hard you might pee your pants.
2. Make a DIY Pinterest project. My husband loves to cook and plan our meals for the work week. I was trying to come up with something to make him for his birthday. I saw this on pinterest and thought I would try and make it. I am no crafting connoisseur. However‚ this was not hard to make. I bought all my items at Michael’s and would look at other Menu Boards for inspiration.
3. Go on a hike or a walk
The Greenway park is 5 minutes from my house in Nashville‚ TN. It is beautiful and you can ride your bike‚ run‚ walk your dog‚ or just take a leisurely walk and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Plus it is free dollars.
4. Hang out at the library
My library is only 5 minutes away from my condo and is brand new with beautiful architecture and all the books and magazines you could possibly want to read. The Bellevue branch library also owns a 150‚00 DVDs and movies you can checkout. If you don’t feel like buying a movie on Amazon or spending any money. You can check out the latest movies for free at the library.
5. Join a book club
I joined a book club and I love it. We meet once a month and the person who’s turn it is to pick the book hosts it at their house. We discuss what we liked and did not like about the novel while eating delicious treats. It is also fun to see what book a person will choose for their turn to host. I love it because I read books that I would have never picked for myself and also get to see what other books are out there that I did not know about. This book in the picture was one of the picks from our book club and it was interesting. You can find Brain On Fire at amazon.com.
6. Watch a Sunset
Do not underestimate how watching a sunset can be peaceful. You can make your favorite ice tea‚ sit on your porch and take in the sky’s beauty.
7. Go thrift shopping
A new Goodwill just opened up by my house and I love looking for what awesome treasures I May possibly find. You can get some great stuff at thrift stores and the great thing about it is it is inexpensive. I have found books that I have sold on Amazon for a profit‚ furniture‚ designer clothes‚ items to finish projects I had started‚ and dishes.
8. Drive to a new place that you want to visit that is not in your city.
My husband and I drove to this Amish Market in Charlotte TN and it felt like a Whole Foods without the expensive prices. They have great sandwiches and their Reuben is to die for. It was refreshing to drive to a new city and explore a place I had never seen before.
9. Get creative and take fun pictures
I caught this shot as I was dropping my dog off at my in-laws for doggie daycare. She loves to sit on my lap while I am driving. I look down for a second and Ari has her hand on the wheel like she is the captain of the ship. It made me laugh and made for a cute picture.
10. Try a new recipe
This book has all kinds of cool ideas to try for cooking. There alot of healthy light recipes to if you want to make a summer recipe. I just love the beautiful pictures they took in this book. You can find The Yellow Table at amazon.com

Now that my budget is way smaller‚ I’m back to finding more local things to do‚ but there’s always so much to do close to home if a person is willing to look. It’s also kind of neat that I’ve been seeing someone who hasn’t seen much of our home state‚ so I’m looking forward to showing him the local sites.
