“The beach is my happy place”
Its seven am and my husband and I have been sitting on the beach watching the calm waves splashing‚ enjoying the light breeze‚ and the calm of the quiet morning.
If you are a person who likes a little peace and quiet every once in awhile‚ then embracing the beach early in the morning is the way to go. There aren’t million people on the beach‚ its mild in the middle of the day when the sun is usually spewing heat‚ a walk on the beach and feel that it is just you and the beach alone. There is no time to keep and no job to get to. One can get lost in the ocean.
Everyone is on vacation in the summer at Gulf Shores‚ Alabama. Which means majority of people sleep in and that gives a person the opportunity to have the beach almost to themselves. There’s something tranquil about being up before the rest of the town. One gets to take in everything without all the noise and clutter that comes with the afternoon. By rising early‚ we got to see Dolphins jumping in and out the ocean. There was a family of four and it was a treat to see them all jumping in a synchronized line. There where tons of birds in the sky and it added to the calm morning. There where crabs of all size running around the sand. I also saw a jellyfish in the sand as we walked on the beach for the first time. The day was interesting because I never got to see one up close.
The couple of early birds that I saw in the morning where enjoying their home-made coffee while watching the gentle waves of the ocean. Tomorrow I will follow their tremendous idea. Meanwhile‚ I will enjoy a iced coffee on the balcony. In conjunction with people bringing their coffee to the beach‚ I also witnessed folk listening to music on their ipods. with the restful morning‚ adding gentle music to the beautiful day takes the morning beach experience to another level.
As I sat on the beach‚ putting my feet in the sand‚ I felt grateful for the ocean and the sea animals that God created for humanity to enjoy. I could live here fulltime. That is the ultimate dream someday. Until; then‚ I will enjoy the little time I get today.
Do you love the beach? What is your happy place?
As of now (17) people have had something to say...

Hi Crystal
I am not a beach person but I get the same feeling of serenity when I go out to my garden first thing in the morning. Everything is so peaceful‚ it gives you time to reflect and be thankful. Isn’t wonderful how we manage to find our own ‘Happy Place”. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Hi Crystal; I love the beach. I live relatively close to galveston but haven’t been in years. My dad used to love the beach so much that some days he would just get in the truck and drive down to where he could watch the waves break hear the surf crash and breathe the clean air. you know scientists think that there are more ions or something in air near the beach that contributes to a good mood. I don’t know about the science‚ but my dad and I always felt better on the ride home. enjoy the time you have there‚ max

I love spending time on the beach when we go to San Diego to visit my husband’s family. Here in the Seattle area I love looking out at one of the lakes in the area and walking the trails that wrap around them. Even just sitting in our own backyard amongst the greenery and chirping birds is lovely.

I am not a beach person per say but do love to look at the water from a balcony or porch. Whenever we book a hotel room that is by water‚ I always request the water view. There is something about water that is tranquillizing.

Your post brings back memories for me of sitting on the lanai in Hawaii‚ drinking freshly brewed kona coffee and watching a humpback whale off in the distance. I much prefer Hawaii beaches to the ones in Washington. Our cold water does not beckon for a swim or even a toe dipping. Although‚ our beaches provide wonderful scenery for pictures!

I’m more of a mountain person‚ but I love the occasional trip to the beach as well. Now if only all that sand wouldn’t stick to my skin… 😉
