Tiny House equals less bills. Sold.
My husband and I were sitting down at the kitchen table-eating dinner one night. I saw him a watching a you-tube video. The curious bug made me turn my head and look because they where talking about building houses.I love anything creative and filled with passion. He was looking at tiny houses that are 600 sq. feet or less. He wanted to show me because he thought it was a good idea. I gave him the crazy look of‚ “what are your thinking?!” Then‚ he began to show me houses that had style and class to them. The idea suddenly seemed not all that crazy. I did tell my husband he has another thing coming if he thinks I am living in a 200 sq. foot house. That would be a disaster. However‚ when my husband showed me the video of this couple who built a 600 sq. ft. house in Arkansas‚ I began to like the idea. Here is You-Tube video of their house. The Tiny House Project. I am in love with this home!
I was immediately excited about the concept. Then began the obsessive research on what it would cost to build a home that big and to find land to put it on. A general‚ ball park quote for 600 sq. feet is 49‚216 dollars. It can go up to 80‚000 depending on what company will build it and if one wants to add all the amenities. Here is a website that one can put in what they want to build a house and how much it will cost. Go to Building-Cost.net . In the event of how expensive homes are to make these days‚ the price is low-priced. The monthly mortgage payment would be 327.84 a month. You can got to bankrate.com and get a free quote. That is‚ just‚ for the house. However‚ I got a little bolt of excitement when I saw that small price.
Next‚ I looked into land for sale to put the house on. I researched land in Phoenix‚ Arizona because the city is a better fit for us. Here is the website I looked at yournextphoenixhome.com. We know ourselves and know it is all about convenience and having stores close by. I found a lot going for 38‚500 dollars. The land is 0.14 acres‚ which is equivalent to 6‚098.4 sq. ft. To me‚ that is more than … than enough land. To me‚ it was amazing that real estate could be so inexpensive. I had never thought there was another way to have a house that was in our budget bracket.
I added the land price and the house price together and put it in the free mortgage calculator on-line. The amount is 87‚716 dollars for 30 years or 360 months. The interest rate is 7% per year. The monthly payments would be 58’.58. Remarkably‚ it cheaper than … then what I am paying right now to live in the Tempe apartment. I am losing money by giving it to an apartment. I would be paying money towards something my husband and I could own in the future. When the house and land is paid it off‚ there would be zero rent payment. Now‚ that would be living the dream.
All the pictures are the same house and from tumbleweedhouses.com
I know a lot of people are thinking 600 sq. ft is way too small. For some‚ these tiny houses maybe too extreme. However‚ I think of it as something my husband and I could build on. Later‚ on when extra money comes in‚ we can add on to the house. I ruled out the tiny house for a long time. There was no way I would be living in a smaller than … space; then‚ I am accustomed to. However‚ my husband showed me a different way of looking at it. I decided to listen. By getting the tiny house‚ it would bring more financial freedom. Also‚ it would put money towards something we will own in the future.
Would you live in a tiny house? What are some ways you have thought of to get deals with buying land or a home?
As of now (16) people have had something to say...

I love those tiny houses and have thought about building one as a getaway place when I just need to escape all life’s busyness. Would I live in one full time? I would have to think about that for a while.

Hello Crystal.
I always ask my husband to have a small house ‚ but in our part we have normal size house ‚ it depends on income of family.
I have one very spacious house ‚ but I have to do a lot with cleaning and stuff ‚ when we go there in holidays. I believe that there are many benefits of small houses ‚ you can same a lot ‚ even if just consider electricity bills ‚water and gas ‚ then surly everything makes a difference.
I loved the idea of this tiny house ‚ I will show video to my husband and try to convince him to have a small.. not that small but comparitively a small house.
I loved the video ‚ thanks for sharing .

I like the design and use of space. I’d probably want a little shed out back for storage. And‚ make sure‚ I’m secretly not a sleepwalker 😉

I would definitely live in a tiny house. My current house is about 1‚100 square feet which is more than enough for me‚ my husband‚ and the pets. When we do move‚ we’ll be looking at houses in the 1‚500 to 2‚000 square feet range‚ but I know I could be just as happy in a little house. It’s just easier to handle the upkeep on smaller places and the smaller payment is enticing as well. My favorite thing to do when visiting IKEA is to check out the efficient space layouts they have of small living quarters.
